Endometriosis

What is Endometriosis and why it matters

Endometriosis is a common but often misunderstood condition in which tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, leading to pain, heavy periods, and sometimes infertility. Affecting an estimated 1 in 10 women during their reproductive years, endometriosis can significantly disrupt quality of life, relationships, and long-term reproductive health. At Raveco Medical, we take this condition seriously — providing accurate diagnosis, effective treatment options, and compassionate support throughout every stage of your care.

Benefits of Endometriosis Care at Raveco

  • Comprehensive diagnostics – including imaging and minimally invasive procedures for accurate detection
  • Multiple treatment pathways – from hormonal management to surgery, tailored to your goals
  • Fertility-conscious care – options designed to preserve or support future pregnancy
  • Expert surgical team – decades of experience in treating complex pelvic conditions
  • Ongoing symptom management – long-term care plans to reduce pain and flare-ups

What You Can Expect

When you come to Raveco for endometriosis concerns, we begin with a detailed discussion of your symptoms and medical history. Common signs include pelvic pain, especially during menstruation, pain during intercourse, irregular or heavy bleeding, and digestive discomfort. Since endometriosis can mimic other conditions, a careful and holistic approach is essential.

Our team may order a pelvic ultrasound, MRI, or, in some cases, recommend diagnostic laparoscopy — a minimally invasive procedure that allows for direct visualization and possible removal of endometrial lesions.

Depending on your diagnosis and personal goals (e.g., pain relief, fertility, or both), we’ll design a treatment plan that may involve hormonal therapy, lifestyle modifications, or laparoscopic surgery. Our goal is to relieve symptoms while preserving future health and fertility.

Why Raveco for Endometriosis

  • Patient-first philosophy – We believe in validating your pain and working with you to find answers.
  • Minimally invasive specialists – Skilled in laparoscopic and robotic surgery for faster recovery.
  • Collaborative care – We coordinate with fertility specialists if needed.

What You Should Know About Endometriosis

What is endometriosis?
blue lineblue line

Your uterus is lined with cells called the endometrium. This is where a fertilized egg attaches if you get pregnant, but when pregnancy doesn’t occur, the lining sheds and bleeds as your menstrual period.

Endometriosis is diagnosed when this tissue grows outside of your uterus. It can appear on other reproductive organs, your anus, bladder, and rectum.

The abnormal tissue cycles just like your uterine tissue, bleeding and shedding monthly. Because it’s abnormally placed, it doesn’t have a clear exit strategy, causing unusual internal bleeding, pain, and potentially infertility.

What are the symptoms of endometriosis?
blue lineblue line

Endometriosis doesn’t always cause symptoms. When it does, you may experience pelvic pain that ranges from moderate to severe. This pain can get worse during your period. Other symptoms include:

  • Infertility
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Painful sex
  • Pain during urination or bowel movements
  • Bloating or nausea
  • Diarrhea or constipation

If you notice these symptoms, schedule a diagnostic exam to determine the cause.

How is endometriosis diagnosed?
blue lineblue line

The team at Raveco Medical may suspect endometriosis due to your symptoms or after conducting a routine pelvic exam, but the only reliable way to confirm the diagnosis is through laparoscopy. They can identify the irregular tissue and have it analyzed in a lab.

How is endometriosis treated?
blue lineblue line

Treatment focuses on managing symptoms to improve your quality of life. Pain medication reduces discomfort for the short term. Hormone therapy may be an option to ease your menstrual cycle and reduce pain and inflammation.

Some drugs block your natural hormone production, but they may bring on temporary menopause and the associated symptoms.

The team at Raveco Medical may recommend surgery to remove bothersome endometrial tissue. In many cases, when tissue is removed, your fertility is restored, and you’re able to get pregnant. The surgery is done laparoscopically, so recovery is quick and complications rare.

Raveco Medical makes every effort to find a conservative approach that yields results. In severe cases, however, hysterectomy may be the only way to effectively treat endometriosis.
